April Team Spotlight |
Section 8 is a team that was started in 1986 (note: there is only one core member of that team still playing today) and features a rich history of tournament participation in New England. If you were to go to any field in New England and ask the experienced players about Section 8 you better have a few minutes because you will receive an abundance of "war stories".
Long time sponsor of the team include: P&L Paintball (Bridgewater, MA), Killer Grips (Boston, MA), KJ Jerseys (Boston, MA), Paintball Supply Shack (Smithfield, RI) and Mill City Paintball (Lowell, MA). New (2006) sponsors to the team include: REDZ International (Medford, NJ), SAK World Paintball (Salem, MA) and Boston Paintball Supply (Somerville, MA).
Some of the history of this team includes:
- 1992: Members of the team who participated on the first New England team to win a national event, ZAP Amateur Open. 1st in the 10-man, 2nd in the 5-man and the only team in paintball history to not only win the event, but was awarded the Sportsmanship for both the 10 and 5 man events.
- 1993: Winners of the first ever B.O.N.E. (Best of New England).
- 1995: 1st place APL (American Paintball League) regional event.
- 1996: Members of the last New England team to win both the 10-man and 5-man events at the ZAP Amateur Open.
- 1997: 1st place APL regional.
- 1998: Winners of the B.O.N.E and overall NEPL series.
- Plus numerous wins in local leagues and tournaments (too many to list).
FYI - since we run two 7-man teams we use the name "Crazy 8" for the second team to avoid any confusion.
What makes this team such a winning element is the strength of the bond amongst the players. Aside from the weekly practices, most of the players on this team play up to 3 times per week, and also "hang out" as friends off the field. For most players on this team paintball is for life!
BTW - many players have come thru our ranks to move onto higher level teams such as: the New England Hurricanes, NYX, and Doc Raiders.
